Subject: Some detailed questions about application
I am currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta and planning to apply for the permanent residence. I think I have a pretty good idea about the process but need some clarifications about specific issues.

1) I have studied to get my PhD for five years in Sweden, under a job contract with formal salary, doing teaching, research and courses. Does it count as 5 year work or less ?

2) My English certificate is 10 years old but it is Cambride Proficiency plus, I wrote over 30 articles and 2 books in English, was teaching in English and will have a written certificate from UofA that my language skills are very high. Do you think it will be enough?

3) My Swedish fiance has no certificate either. Do we have to fix it for her even if I am the principal applicant ?

4) Buffalo papers state that I need contracts from my work places and letters of reference. Do I really have to get the old contracts or is it enough with letters of reference with all the job details ?

5) My Skill Level makes my job position HRDC exempt for the temporary work permit. Is it the same for the permanent residence ?

Thank you very much in advance for the help,

Bart

Hi Bart.

Given the number of questions you have and the lacking details needed to correctly answer them, I suggest that you schedule an appointment to talk with me on the phone. I am in Calgary, and could give you 15 minutes without charge.

Sincerely,
