By the way Sharon this is not my business but hope your relationship is strong with him becasue I had a very nice friend ( a canadian) who thought she fell in love with the man in her dreams she did everything to bring him from lebanon to Canada, Vancouver, she even left Canada to marry him and took him to Canada, later she and her parents also supported his brother to come over, that poor friend did everything for that bastard but after just a few months he left her alone and asked for a divorce... And my friend was still paying her credit card debts that she used for his plane ticket and his brother´s ticket... so again this is not my business but please be careful and make it sure that your love is really strong ...
I would like to repeat this real sad story to all the canadian citizens and PRs in the country ....

I am very comfortable with our relationship, however... for all the reasons you state above and my concerns over CIC and their intrusive process... we have elected for him to come on his own merits. If our relationship goes sideways - he is on his own and I am not a jilted immigration sucker.
