Subject: Applying for work visa during PR process
Can anyone please clear my Doubt: I am waiting for my IA with AOR dated June 15th 2005. I currently live in the US. If a Canadian employer is willing to hire me and sponsor my work visa in Canada, what will happen to my PR application(CIC-Buffalo)? Are there any chances that my PR application will get Cancelled? Any input will help.Thankyou.

should be no problem (in reply to: Applying for work visa during PR process)
in fact, if you get the HRSDC confirmation (assuming you need one) that may be good for your PR application.

Job Offer should be stamped from HRDC which will take about 2-3 Months investigation and waiting.
If you get work permit while your file is in processing. You can go to work in Canada right away. The advantage is that your PR application will be processed very fast "about half time line"

I should tell you that getting HRDSC confirmation for a job in Canada is damn near impossible. Your employer has to show CIC that they tried to hire other Canadians or permanent residents before you; such as pamplets they may have handed out at job fairs, or job postings they put up on websites, or Canadians they interviewed before you. So, if you´re planning on applying for HRDSC confirmation, make sure you have your employer have an immigration lawyer do it for them, or else you will definitely not get it.

OK, someone needs to do their homework before making anymore postings... For one thing, HRSDC confirmation is not that difficult to get; with or without a lawyer - in most cases, it really depends on the labour market and position offered (in fact, in many cases, confirmation is either not required, or is nearly "automatic"). Secondly, your PR application´s processing time will be completely unaffected, either positively or negatively, by your work permit, as only those applicants with arranged employment AT THE TIME OF SUBMITTING THEIR PR APPLICATION receive expedited processing.

I don´t know who "ICU" is, but I would strongly suggest a careful screening of their services prior to initiating an agreement (especially in light of the multitude of errors found on their website, including their claim that they can speed up your application´s processing immediately after warning readers to beware of anyone who makes such a claim - duh).

Hey, Thanks so much for telling me the above information. Can you please also tell me if every work visa HAS to be HRSDC approved? In other words can we get a work visa without involving HRSDC at all? Thanks again.
