Subject: Landing and Getting PR
  Hi All:

I just got my PPR and sent in my Passport for immigrant visa stamping.
Now my question is I do not have any friends or relatives in Canada. I basically have a H1B visa from USA and I need to return to USA back immediately after I do the landing procedure. How do I make sure to get my PR card and SIN card which I apply when I land in this situation. Can anyone give me some ideas? I have to return to USA because I am in an advanced stage (not yet finalized though) of my US green card also, so cant let go of this too. But Canadian PR is still important as if US doesnt work out I will move to Canada, but for now I dont have any friends or relatives in Canada. Please come out with some ideas for me. I cannot stay in Canada for more than 2 days as I will be losing my job in USA.

My detailed timeline is below. Good Luck to every one else.

Applied: Oct 2004 (last week)
AOR: Feb 15 2005
IELTS: Apr 2005 ( I submitted even without them asking for it)
IA: Nov 14 2005 (Interview waived and med requested)
Med: Dec 21 2005 (Sent by doc to Ottawa on Dec 26 2005)
PPR: May 16 2006 (PR process complete)

I mailed my Passport and now waiting for PP to arrive with immigrant visa stamped.

Don´t you have at least one year after the date of your PPR visa to get your landing card? You could come to Canada during a weekday and stay at a hotel, and then go and set up a P.O. Box at the post office and set up your SIN number and so on. Then come back in another 2 or 3 months, when you think you have your papers in the mail and pick them up.

There are a few temporary resident spots in Canada which can collect mail for you, for a fee. And, as Joy said, you´ve got till Dec to land. You can even work out some vacation time from the job, and take care of landing.

Simple advice: postpone landing. Postpone landing.
