I will never forget this day of my life! Today, 5/30/06, I came home to find a brown envelop from Buffalo in which there is a letter requesting my passport. Yay!!!!!!!!

Over the next 19 months, nothing heard.

Congrats. How come your background check took so long? Did you live in a lot of different countries? or do you know why it took so long?

Hi, Joy and Harp, Thank you. As you can see from the timeline above, everything went well up until security check step which unfortunately took an aweful long time. If i have to guess the reason, i would say it has something to do with my current employment. I am working for a local state government agency here in the US doing procurement (purchasing so to speak). Though to me it´s nothing other than just a job, CIC apparently feels it differently. I was subject to the lengthy security check. I haven´t lived in other countries except USA and China - which is my home country by the way.

Congrats man, but to be in a govt job in US, it shows you already have greencard or citizenship. I wonder why you would want to move to canada? of course its your personal choice but I´m just curious..lol.

19 months sure is a long time of wait...
