Subject: Police certificates from MEXICO
Does anyone know about getting police certificates from Mexico? I read in various places that Mexico doesn´t issue them. I can never get through to their consulate. I studied in Mexico for more than 6 months so I guess I need one from there too. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Menino::: (in reply to: Police certificates from MEXICO)
Hi Menino: I am from Mexico and I am applying to get permanent resident status within Canada. They´ve never asked me so far my criminal records , but I ´ve got them just in case. You can go to the mexican consulate closest to the place where you live and they can apply for them. It can take up to 5 months to get them trough the consulate. The other way is if you know somebody there who can help you to get them, You just have to send a letter to entitle the person to get them.
The other thing is that each State of Mexico have different requirements to get them.
But also you can apply for the general ones of the whole country if you have lived in different states of Mexico. You can get those thru the Government Office called: Procuraduria General de la Republica. You can typpe this words in google and try to find the web-site.
I hope this can help you.. Probably the safest way could be to apply for them trough the consulate but this can take quite a while.
Good luck..

Luis...As usual...I´m getting the run around from Mexico! It´s so frustrating. I live in Minnesota but I went to the Mexican Consulate in Chicago today and they told me many things....1..That I couldn´t get this certificate...2..I can only get this in Mexico...3...I have to be Mexican to get it...4...The consulate can not assist me...5...I can get it, but I have to go to Mexico myself...6...A friend or relative can get one for me....Who knows what to believe. After 3 hours of wating, and waiting, and waiting..The consul wanted to charge me $68.00 for a peticion de parte for me and another one for my partner (another $68.00) in which I declare that I have never been in trouble with the law in Mexico. This is a lot to pay for something that probably won´t even serve its purpose. So I waited some more, and more, and more..and finally they issued a letter stating that the Consulate General of Mexico doesn´t issue police certificates. So, I am back to square one! YIKES!

Hello Menino,
I´m a mexican applying from Mexico, and at first I didn´t have a clue about these police certificates, and the application kit I downloaded from the CIC web site stated that I would receive further instructions; and so that happened, the sent me a letter with cristal clear instructions and had no problem. So what I think is that they´ll issue precise instructions on getting those certificates; the people at CIC know hoe PGR works and know how to solve this kind of issues; when I needed to get thos certificates I had an issue and the CIC people helped me to solve it, they even gave me several options an how to get things done.
So what I would do is to wait until you receive instructions.

Hope this helps

Jose Antonio
