Subject: Avg Income |
What would you call as an avg. salary if you get in a city like Toronto would suffice a comfortable living, i.e., afford mortage on a decent house, car, and possibly a little retirement account.

average income (in reply to: Avg Income) Statistics Canada states that in 2001 the average Toronto household income was $69,125. Median income was $49,345. I would suggest that the higher number would be offering you the lifestyle that you are asking about. Remember, that the take home pay (after taxes) on that salary is about $42,000.

incomes (in reply to: Avg Income) I really do not have an answer for you. I think it depends on where you might teach and the subject matter. I am not even sure where to look. There are not a lot of jobs paying $62-65,000 after taxes. (approx.$85,000 gross) A high school teacher with a masters degree, at the top of their seniority ladder would make about $60,000.
Canadian major cities are really needing 2 incomes to create the lifestyle you are thinking about.
