Hi everyone! My husband is on H1B and Iam on H4 in USA. We are planning to land in Toronto from USA in July. Proof of funds is $12,659 for couple. But if we take more than $10,000 from USA, we have to inform the US customs. I wanted to know whether we can take 2 Certified checks (one $9000 and other $4000). If this is the case should we still inform US customs. Could anyone please confirm this.

yes ..you will still have to inform them as you are taking more than us$10,000 at one time..

Thank you cube11 for your reply. We are flying from Columbus, OHIO to Toronto. Could you please tell me how to inform the US customs about the money at the airport. Do we need to fill any forms? Or is there any link or phone number of the US customs to find out all this.

just go to any immigration officer and he will tell you what to do..it takes 5 minues...
