| Subject: what happens if i decide not to land |
I wanted to find out whether anyone knew what happens in a situation where, let´s say, I´ve been approved but decided not to go/live to/in Canada. I mean, are there any financial or any other kid of penalties? (for changing my mind the very last minute:-)

it would be very nice if you let CIC know. It might allow one more person get their PR that is waiting in line.
You have a set time to land. Once that time has passed, your PR is cancelled and you must re-apply. From what I understand there is not penalty other than losing your opportunity.

CIC will ask that you return your COPR, and your visa will then be cancelled. Advise is to land and then return. That way you´ll always have the option. Otherwise if you change your mind you must apply all over again.

You won´t get any fine or penalties... just will lose your Processing fee and Right of Permanent Resident Fund. You can´t get your Right of Permanent Resident Fund refund after the decision has been made.

What is that Right of Permanent Resident Fund mentioned above??? I don´t recall paying anything like that... How much is that and when does it have to be paid? Thanks again!!!

Ops sorry, I mean Right of Permanent Resident Fee. It was the CDN$975(before May 3 2006) and CDN$490 (After May 3 2006).
And I just checked again, you are entitled of the full refund of that if you decided not to become Permanent Resident.
