  sharon,

i was impressed with your postings in regard to Menino (with his partner illegally in the u.s.) and "is canada really a better place?". your postings were very well thought out and balanced.

while i sometimes do not agree with you, i do respect your viewpoints - more so now, than before. cheers and best of luck in bringing your fiance to Canada!

As I have said in previous messages, no single person contributes more than Sharon to us - the army of desperate migrants in this forum. We just need to learn how to like her comments, which after you try a bit harder, is not problem at all. Actually people are proposing SHARON as President!!!

Way to go Sharon! You are of great help to the individuals who make use of this forum.

Thanks!

you might make me cry (in reply to: For Sharon)
I have had the priviledge of seeing immigration from both sides of the fence. As a Canadian who pays their taxes, who wants to make sure we build a strong future for our country. And then I have seen the other side. Through the eyes of a smart, motivated 3rd world man who has hopes and dreams for a better life. Together we have been wading our way through a system that feels cold and often silent.

I do not have all the answers - by any means. You guys are my therapy. It helps me wait while the person I love winds their way through the process. Just yesterday, we got a notice that the last round of documents requested by CIC never arrived. The saga goes on and on. I have felt the frustration of dealing with CIC. I figure I pay their salaries... they should answer my phone calls!!!!!

While I understand the hopes and dreams, I am also aware that there are challenges with immigration that never seem to be posted on the CIC website. Cost of living, transferable skills, social adjustments. I think it is very unethical not to tell the whole story. Sometimes I am accused of not wanting someone to come to Canada. That is not the case. However, I do believe that the application process is the easy part - what comes after is the biggie and if someone is complaining already... they will never make it. If we think CIC is bad... try getting a land line phone without any credit!!!!

Canada is a young country. All we are is a bunch of Immigrants - literally. I have had the priviledge of meeting some very lovely people on this forum...others, well... no comment! When someone is looking for an immigration bride... my taxpaying hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I get a little testy. :) I deal with people all day in my job and there are some folks out there who think everything wrong is someone elses fault. My favorite line is ´same junk-different country/culture´!

So, if you can accept some of my frustrated remarks along with my more sober ones, I would be honoured if you would allow me to continue waiting with you for that PR card.

regards,
Sharon
