Subject: From Quebec to other place Part 2
What if you apply to permanent residence in Quebec and once there you change your mind and decide to go to the english provinces ? You can travel and work without problems ? Or you have to do some paperwork ?

if you have gone through Quebec selection, you are required to land in Quebec. Travel is no issue in terms of vacation. I believe there is some convenant you are agreeing to in terms of living and working in Quebec for a certain length of time. Not sure how enforceable it is.

If there were not agreement to settle, there would be no purpose to the Quebec program.

Yeah, if you apply to Quebec tne idea is to live in Quebec of course, but, what if you find a nice job in an english province ? You?re going to say no just to live in Quebec ? I don?t think so. I?ve been researching this issue but nothing says it?s mandatory to stay in Quebec, as a matter of fact, after the Quebec selection certificate you receive a federal approval, so, as far as I know, I have the right to settle where I want to.

But, this are only interpretations and guesses. I would like to receive and answer from someone who is familiarized with immigration rules related to this topic. Once in Quebec can I move ? In a short term ? After a while ?

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms allows you to live where ever you choose to live.

You can enter Canada at any port of entry you wish and PNP programs are for immigrants with an INTENTION to reside in that province to help tha province economy and birth rate.

It is no different then purchasing something and then returning it to the store the next day.

One main reason for some to choose Quebec is the LONG Federal Processing Times.

can you please verify with some sort of link? while your premise makes legal sense - why are all applicants not moving through the Quebec system to circumvent CIC process. (particularly proof of funds)

I went through with a Quebec application. First, you need to speak French for them to consider you seriously -- this alone eliminates many candidates. Second, you need proof of funds for Quebec also -- I was asked for it before, and at the interview. Third, while it used to be the case that it was faster, it no longer is, at least when applying from North America -- it took ne about the same time from applying for CSQ to PPR as a regular federal applicant, if not longer. If you apply from a place like Paris though, it takes considerably less time to go through Quebec.

My sister and brother-in-law are moving to Quebec form India. Last I checked they had to stay in Quebec for 3 yrs before they could move to other provinces. I am trying to confirm this. Haven?t had much success in confirming it till now.

If anybody has any information please let me know.

Thanks for the help
