Hi,
Another question. I am planning to land in Vancouver in mid July. I have my immigrant visa stamped. Since my passport is expiring in 7 months, I would like to apply for a new passport. The visa would still be there in the old passport. Will that be issues while landing?

As long as your passport is valid at the date of entry, it should be fine then.

I think when you apply for new Passport, the old passport is cancelled, however the valid visas are not.

You have 7 months, why don?t you get a new passport from your Embassy in Canada.

after returning from Canada you can get a new passport.
you can renew your passport just before expiration date.
