Subject: Police Clearance Certificates - Russians in Canada
  Hello Everyone in the Forum,

I will be applying for Permanent Residency of my wife under the "Spouse in Canada" class soon. She is a Russian national while I am a Canadian Permanent Resident. She HAS legal status in Canada, no worries. However, we will have to get a Police Clearance Certificate from Russia for her, and I am wondering if anyone can share his/her experience in getting Police Clearance Certificate(s) from the Russian Embassy/Consulate in Canada?

Which Embassy/Consulate we should approach? Toronto or Ottawa?

What is the procedure? I checked the Website of the Main Ottawa Embassy and did not find any information on the subject.

Please help. And Best of Luck to all of you in your application procedures and processes.

Thank you all in advance for your inputs....

Passion!

Hi, Passion
You are looking in a wrong direction, pal.

To my knowledge, Embassy/Consulate will not help you out with this one :
RUSSIAN MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS (still called MVD, i guess(?)) will issue that document.
Meaning, that someone has to obtain that in Russia (city where you wife had lived), then translate and legalize that and only then you can attach it to your file.

Goodluck.

Hello Anonymous,
Thank you very much for the information. I will pursue the direction you have suggested. I was under the impression that the Embassy/Consulate would be the point of contact because I have seen postings in the past on this forum which suggested the same. But I will pursue what you are saying. If you know anyone who has gone through the procedure, please do forward my question to him/her.

Best of Luck to you in all that you are pursuing and thanks a lot again for your input.....

Passion.

Note that you will need the information center of the MVD in Moscow. They will be the ones to enquire about you in the town your wife lived.
p.s
Me and my wife got ours less than 6 months ago from there.
