Subject: Which is the best month to land?
If visa is around october/november,
would it be wiser to land after new year
or better right away? (keeping in mind when best to look for job)

I would avoid November, December and January if possible. You are suggesting Edmonton. The weather is not so great that time of year. Generally, businesses are very busy getting ready for Christmas and there is a lot of activities that fill a business calendar that time of year. January is generally slow for business so hiring would not be as frequent.

just my experience, but no real data to support my thoughts.

Just wanna find the "right" time, so that we would spend less of our savings.

You will have limited time to land after the visa has been issued. The single entry PR visa is valid for up to one year after the medical was completed. If CIC had the file 9 months after you did the medical you will only have 3 months in which to prepare and land in Canada.

It might be in February, but then that´s the coldest month of the year.

The job market in Canada is apparently doing very well, so anything you land, after a period of adjustment you should easily find employment.
