canada sucks! (in reply to: GOT MY VISA TODAY !!!!)
Don´t want to disillusion you, but we moved to Canada in April and it´s nothing like we thought it would be.
With the exception of a few, Canadians are rude, they never say thank you, they are stuck in an 80´s timewarp, they view immigrants with suspicion, (despite the fact that unless they´re native Indians, they´re all bloody immigrants)and food is expensive generally. They sting you with GST which is a hidden tax, there is no privatisation of utility companies so you´re stuck with their pricing, and their radio stations suck big time. The few Canadian bands that have made it internationally (I can only think of Avril Lavigne and Nickelback who sound like they have laryngitis) are played endlessly, and all the women and girls squeak constantly like smurfs on helium.
I read a similar discourse by a disgruntled Brit on a forum before I came out here, and put her whinings down to an inability to embrace Canadian culture, but unfortunately they have none. The girl was right!
I know I´m going to get endless hatemail from pissed off smurfs but I don´t care.
Oh and if any government officials are reading this, (after all it seems you have nothing better to do than award yourselves massive pay rises)here´s a suggestion. Get rid of HRSDC, they do nothing but get in the way of honest hardworking people who want to work. You have a shortage of workers it seems, and your stupid government agency spends valuable working time checking out whether a Canadian could fill the job, when it´s obvious to all that if a Canadian wanted the job, they would have filled it during the 2 sodding years that it´s been advertised for. While the agency spends time with it´s thumb up it´s collective asses, you could have someone working in that post and paying tax!
I will say that Canada does have it´s beauty, (not counting Edmonton) and houses are much cheaper, but that´s where the advantages end.

JC you damn right ´bout the Govt folks screwin around during work time. Well, all I can say is: some people succeed fast some don´t. The ones who succeed, post high brow posts, the others are just pissed off. I hope you might find something or other. I showed in Canada after finding a job so I can´t imagine why it is hard to find one. I am still on the same job and going to be for the forseeable future. So I look at Canada as a place of opportunity. But I ain´t no fool so I don´t really encourage every low-life to immigrate here. In my opinion, if you did not have a job when you moved here, and did not find one within 6 months, it is time to return. Or, if you showed up here with half a million, you might as well sit back and enjoy some life and find a couple of smurf girls for fun, while gettin ready to look for a job.!

jc - you sound very angry. Wwhat prompted you to try Canada?
What sort of research did you do about Canada, the job market and the cost of living before you came?

Immigration is not an easy adventure and more often than not - what people have aready is just as good - if not better, and Canada proves to be a huge disappointment.

Sorry you have found Canadian´s to be rude and our culture to be boring. I kind of like our brand of boring and find those who are the most rude are the ones who have just arrived and brought their manners with them.
