Subject: Proof of English for native English speakers
Since I am a native English speaker, I understand that I still must include a "written submission". Does this mean handwritten or can it be typed? I thought I read somewhere that a typed submission was rejected. Thanks.

Sorry for being vague...One of the parts of the application is proof of Language Proficiency. You can either take language proficiency tests from an approved organization or establish your proficiency levels through a written explanation and supporting documentation. In the Buffalo checklist it also says "Proof of language proficiency is required for your application to be considered complete, otherwise it will be returned to you. If your native language is English or French, you still need to provide a letter attesting to this fact." My question is...Does this letter that I will write stating that I am a native English speaker have to be hand-written or can it be typed? I thought I read on one of these forums that an application was rejected because the letter was typed instead of hand written. Any info on this? Thanks

Typewritten documents are more formal than handwritten ones.
For as long as you affix your signature as the author, then there´s no problem. In my case, I formulated a 3-page letter justifying my fluency in English.

I agree, Bruce. The idea of hand writing a statement seems absurd but that is what I thought I read in a post. I´m much to formal to handwrite one. What did you include in your statement? I would think that being born in the US to parents who were born in the US with 2 out of 4 grandparents born in the US would prove that I am indeed an English-speaker. All of my education was in English and except for one year I have lived the other 32 in the USA. I just don´t know what else to include...Help me brainstorm! Thanks

I am from india and got my masters in the US and have been working here ever since. English has been my medium of education all along in India.
Can anyone please post or send me the format or sample of "English Reference Letter from Employer" and/or "Letter Of Proficiency In English". lagans@gmail.com
thank you
