Experts,
Just curious, wht do CIC usually check when they say that back grnd check is in process.
Usually, will they do that before IA, or after submitting additional docs?
I have submitted additional docs like W2s, paystubs, bank stmts in June. Do you think they will call previous companies and find my employment details and call IRS verify my tax details etc etc., ??
Or will they just take the details and verify for any criminal record?
Is that the reason why it takes a long time for them to complete back ground checks?

Mamtha-
Background check are perhaps the most mysterious of them all. These checks are done by CSIS - Canadian eq. of FBI - they check on you independently of other agencieis.
They usually are concerned about your criminal checks. I have not heard about them calling companies. But they are free to do.
Usual BG times are 6 months - 18 months. Just keep writing to your application consulate every 3-4 months to check.

See Billy that is wrong information or information lacking in content and why you should understand the facts before you condem others.
Back Ground Checks Mantha are three fold.
1.Proof of no convictions in every country where any applicant has been for more then six months since the age of 18.
2. CSIS Canadian Security Inntelegence Society to check whether or not the applicant has a record in any country and is not a threat to Canada.
3. Foss checks for any person who was ever admitted to Canada or had been removed from Canada.
Billy Foss is the system in Canada and CAIPS is for abroad.

I submitted my PCC from India as well as from America. Hope that will be sufficient for them to do a bck gnd check on me.

1 is past right?
But I don´t even have IA yet
Criminal and Security is 1 too.

If you can have someone who you designate sign a IMM 5475 or a
IMM 5476 Use of Representative form you can fax it to CSIS and they will respond by fax in about a week or by snail mail in two weeks approx.
Yes it is possible depending on the visa posts and their internal procedures plus, plus.
The problem is that CSIS completes their checks fairly quickly and then the results do not get notated on file/caips.
One client had been cleared for two years and the visa post claimed the problem was security clearance which in most circles means CSIS clearance when in fact it was background checks from Canada or CIC because one Immigration officer had put a NCB entry on Foss about the persons actions while in Canada.

LOL...i remembered him(DB) saying about being willing to pay for advice and all that stuff...man, DB, we all like free stuff, and if we can get free advice (this is the reason for this forum), we will take it all the time.

Hi - I have heard that during BDEC - all previous employers are called up and eduction credentials verified - is this true for csq (quebec immigration) candidates as well
