Hi,
I have the immigration visa stamped from Buffalo and am planning to land in 2 weeks in Canada. However I am planning to renew my Indian passport before that. Does the immigrant visa for Canada still remain valid and can I still land ? The landing paper would refer to my expired passport in that case. Advice please.

Its a very stupid Question? What do you think? Use your brain! If you renew your passport then of course any visa´s in your old passport will be void!

well, my advice would be to not renew your Indian passport now...Land first, get six months experience of living in Canada, then, go to the immigration office or someone who knows about it, and then, ask them.

NO, not a problem at all. You will get a new passport but all the visas will still remain valid until the expiration dates on them. The Indian consulate will put a stamp on your old passport reading "Passport cancelled but all visas valid"

Just to be safe side, you may inform your embassy/or passport issuing authority about it.

Interesting indeed, "Passport canceled but all visas valid", is that specially done for Indian passports?
Not all countries have the same formula, my country if it canceled the old passport, everything get void.
