I must add contrary to many reports - I personally have had excellent communication from Buffalo CIC.
Each time I write (Fax or Email) I have got a reply back within 24 Hrs. These have been short replies, but giving current information. The only time I was frustrated by their replies was during the background check time. However, there is little even they can do in that respect. It is out of their hands.
My suggestion is to not overwhelm, but write once every 4 months - I see that on my CAIPS notes, all my fax and email records are noted and info that these have been replied.
Sometimes, sitting and not communicating may harm. Maybe they sent some letter for more information and you never got it - writing maybe once every 4 months may not bring good news, but will ensure that your case is moving along.

As I said, you have to give them at least 24 hrs to respond. Only write from the email you mentioned in your application. Give your full name, application no., your address anc tel. no. to identify yourself.
DONOT Email more than 1 email each 4 months.

Can you just write them and ask about the status of the application? Online it says ´in process´ - will they even bother telling you anything more?
