| Subject: Status after Divorce within one year of landed imm |

Does any one know what would be the Status after Divorce within one year of landed immigration is recd.I came last year after marriage and I have run into relationship troubles and need to get out.Could someone inform me about candian law regarding this.Would I have to leave canada if I divorce??Pl. advise or refer me to relevant website.Thanks.

There is nothing anyone can do including Immigration. As long as you can provide evidence that the relationship is over your fine. Affidavits from friends or family would protect you quite well.
There has been some instances where the partner left virtually immediately and the spouse sued and won but that is extremely rare. Try mending fences first and if all else fails end the relationship and do not look back.

You need to explore if you had hidden agenda of getting into Canada through marriage... You need to explore if your spouse can make a successful legal claim that you had ulterior motive to use marriage to get access to Canadian residency. If you are solid in those two arguments, you have nothing to worry about. If you did not use marriage to enter Canada, you are superfine. However, regardless of the real situation, do not become a public charge which will only complicate the immigration aspect and marriage. If you are lucky and get a no-contest divorce on amicable terms... it is the best situation and you should drink a couple beers for that. Good luck. (Is there good luck in divorce???)

People are so full of shit when they say they can take legal action against you and have you removed from Canada! Your free to stay in Canada and nobody can do any thing about it! Even CIC can´t!

Don´t worry ...No one can touch you, if you have been legal, always followed the law, never tried to thread your wife/ husband.... never tried to attack him/her ...then nothing will happen to you ...
You ,as a Pr who was brought into Canada, have the right to ask your ex to support you during your stay in Canada, please read sponsoring a wife/family member ...legally if your ex is Canadian and if you entered the country that way your ex MUST support you, see a lawyer ....

I have gone through the same situations. I am not sure what is wrong and i dont want to know either. As long as u are lawfully married and u are a permanenet resident of canada. No body can thourght u out.Divorce is not a criteria for deportation . No body can just create a false case and throgh out. As long as realation is genuine u are safe. U dont need any lawyer or any infoamtion at all. Be relaxed and go with your divorce boldly.
Beside lawyers are very expensive and he/she sign a sponser ship agreement and they are more in trouble the u are.
They can even ask some ransome so stay away , Law is with u not against u
