37 degs in Vancouver!!! Fantastic!!!

I read somewhere that the summers and winters were comparable to England, but slightly more extreme winters. England´s having a heatwave, but 37 it ain´t!! Is this typical for Vancouver?

no, it is the strongest ridge of high pressure in a decade. we might get a 2 week stint when we hit 30 on the coast and 37-38 in the interior but this is exceptional.

Vancouver winters... I own a warm winter coat and it spends 50 weeks of the year in the closet. I have not worn a jacket since May 1 and will not likely dust it off until October 1. All you need is a wind breaker and an umbrella.

as I said earlier, we might get 3 days of snow. We expect rain from November to March and when the sun shines, we all go crazy and find any restaurant patio we can. As in England, rain is not a deterrant to life here. We like our green.

You know, I think we´re going to settle in quite nicely!

And my wife just agreed to me buying a Trans Am so I´m a happy bunny.

She´ll change her mind when I´m hung over and can´t argue back.

Oh, Fraser Valley. Honest opinion... is Abbotsford a nice area? Maybe give me an honest answer on the other forum??!!

Abbotsford. Housing is a little less expensive. Its roots are European immigrant and fairly consevative. Lots of churches. In more recent years the South Asian community has moved in and taken over a lot of the farm land.

In terms of real ´city living´ - not so great. Not the best for those with asthma because of the geography. Fraser Valley gets it all.

I know people who are quite happy living there but they would not want to commute into Vancouver every day. 90 minutes each way.

What is your objective?

Hi again,

Sorry I disappeared like that!

Still can´t get onto road to canada :(

Our objective is basically ´affordable´! Also I´m a bit of a country bumpkin so I wouldn´t want to be right in the middle of a big city...

But here´s the thing - they literally told my wife to ´pick a hospital´ (they all have vacancies for her), so we´re kind of spoilt for choice. We were told Fraser Valley is affordable so it seemed like a good start, but obviously ´affordable´ isn´t always the best reason is it!

I mean, I´m not gonna buy a Trans Am because it´s affordable. Incidentally, I haven´t bought one yet, I´ve just got my wife to agree that I can buy one as soon as we land!! Hee hee! Naturally it´ll have to be black.

So, any suggestions on where we should look at? Somewhere a bit countrified but not too far from a hospital...

Hot weather doesnt mean good weather that shows in fact bad and terrible days in the future... Any big change in climate means we have problems....

Millions of cars, nuclear power stations, fires, wars, all creating environmental problems and as a result the climate of the world is getting higher and higher, that means if we continue like that we will see the hell is in near future...
