Subject: Family Class Processing Time Within Canada
Does anyone know the Processing time for a family class application (common-law) procssed within Canada take? On the CIC website, it is stated that it was 7-8 months for First Stage of Approval.

1)Does this time frame include the approval of sponsorship application (which indicated 53 days)?

2)What is the Second of Third Stage of Approval (if there is any)? what´s the total processing time from submitting the application to receiving the permanent resident status?

Thanks in advanced.

It will be 7-8 months before they look at your application then at least another year to a year and a half before your partner gets his/her PR card. Basically add the H&C processing times of 1 year to the 7-8 months which only gets your partner a work permit. Total processing time is a year and a half to two years with no problems.

Take a look at your partners processing time for his/her visa post if the applicantion is subnmitted outside of Canada.

Thanks a lot Roy!

I´m holding a post-grad work permit (1-year) in Canada working for a company. Do you think it´d be faster for me to apply as a skilled worker after I have worked here for a year or apply as common-law family class within Canada? and which way would have a better chance to receive PR?

Thanks again.
