Subject: car still in payment
  hi all.
I need a little help, I´m still making payment to our SUV (I´m in USA). when we got our PR soon, do we have to pay off the payment? can we take the car which is still not paid off yet to the border? of course I can still pay monthly via Online Bank when we´re there. if anybody knows about this, please help. thanks.

US customs will not clear the car for export unless there are no liens on the title or any lienholders consent in writing for the collateral (your car) to be taken out of the country. You can try contacting the lienholder and asking, but I doubt they´ll consent -- it´s very hard to repossess the car from another country if you stop paying, so they will almost certainly insist on the car staying in the US until the loan is paid off.

it´s ok to do that, you just need to get a letter from your lienholder that they are alowing you to export your suv to Canada, I did myself and my lienholder just asked me to include their name in the insurance policy here in Canada., there are still some documents that you need to produce when you do that ie. dmv screen copy of the title, and some others that I can´t recall anymore, there a some tread here before about that with all the details, just try to find that here. goodluck

anonymous is right....you can bring your car even if not fully paid yet...

you need a letter from your bank permitting you to export the car...also you need a notarized copy of the title as well as the screen print from DMV...all these you need to fax to US customs (where you are exiting) at least 72 hours from landing....better to call the US customs as they might have additional requirements now....
