Subject: Changing the PR applicant address (outside Canada)
  Hello,
My fiancee is currently awaiting her PR decision (I have been approved as a sponsor, Canadian citizen etc), and lives in Minnesota. She wants to move as a visitor to Vancouver (with me), does anyone know if her decision letter can be sent to a Canadian address? And if no, can we use an American address in Washington St. where she has relatives to stay with. Thanks.

Steve

ps: how do I get ahold of someone in Buffalo to change her address?

Hi,

I´m 99.9% sure that the decision letter can be sent to a Canadian address, this is mainly because I´m currently living in Canada with my husband (who is a Canadian citizen) and my application is being processed in Buffalo. Also it is because Buffalo is responsible for processing applications for people who have lived in Canada for more then a year (and are still living there) as well as residents of the U.S.

As for informing Buffalo of a change of address, you will have to wait until she recieves her Acknowledgement of Receipt that contains her file number from the Buffalo RPC. When they send that letter, they include a form that can be used to report changes in contact information (such as mailing address, phone number, etc.). Before that letter is received, there is no way to ensure that they can match up the request to change a mailing address with the proper application/file.

Hope this helps and I hope that the immigration officials at the border don´t give your fiancee a hard time when she tries to cross because they will probably have to issue her a visitor´s visa at the border.
