Subject: Temporary resident visa
I would like to sponsor someone from the Philippines to visit me in Canada. She is interested in studying here, and would be visiting universities/colleges in order to get approved to study at one of them. She has just graduated (batchelors degree), and has written and passed an entrance exam at a university in the Philippines. Her courses would begin in June. She wants to visit Canada, to see if she likes it here, and of course to determine if she would be accepted to study here. I have written her an invitation letter to visit here, as well as agreeing to sponsor her stay while visiting. She has been interviewed twice, and rejected both times. Essentially, they are saying they don´t believe she would return to the Philippines, and that what they require is that she is working at a job that pays 40,000 pesos/month and own property in the Phils. This cannot be right, as no student would likely ever qualify if this was really the case. What are we doing wrong? How is it possible to convince the Canadian Embassy that she wishes to do everything legally, and would not overstay her visa?

Hi Gary.

This is correct, and very common for visitor applicants from developing nations. Unfortunately, even with support letters and promises to return, many such visitors never leave Canada.

If you want to apply again, but do not have the required evidence, I recommend that you hire a professional to provide additional insight and support. However, without satisfying the officer that she has every reason to return (e.g. local employment, real property, etc.), it is very likely that her application will continue to be refused.

Good luck.

Sincerely,

Sponsor my husband and 'm only working visa holder here in canada (in reply to: Temporary resident visa)
Please help me!

I would like to know if it is possible for me to sponsor my husband in the Philippines to come and visit me here in Canada. I´m holding an open work permit since dec2011. I´m desperate to go back home this year coz I´m still waiting for my permanent. Residence result. It´s been 19 mos. And I don´t have any response.

Please help what steps and process I need to do to be able sponsor my husband to visit me this holiday.

Thanks a lot!
