What´s the difference between native language and first language? Is it possible to not know/ speak what is supposed to be your native language? Does that then mean that its not your native language?

(in reply to: language....) Your native language IS your first language. You might not be able to speak it if, for example, you´re deaf (can´t pick it up from parents) or have mental impairments.

(in reply to: language....) okey dokes. So I take it that your native country (from which you hold your passport) and its native language do not have to coincide, on an individual basis? Ie, You may have a passport from Spain/ parents are Spanish etc, but your native language may not be the native language of Spain?

(in reply to: language....) passport has nothing to do with your native country...your native country is where you grew up as someone with a passport from country A may have never been there but they lived in country B their whole life so country B is the native country
