Looks like a lot of people are now getting their PPRs (or RFV as I think it should be called here). This includes me in the next week or so. The other board also confirms this.

Anyone have any idea or theory why the sudden surge? It´s as if something was holding everything back but has now been reolved.

here is a WILD theory. Not sure your premise is true but why not...it´s a slow Sunday morning.

maybe CIC thought that there would be policy changes when the Liberals left office and they were stalling to see what happened.

More likely - CIC is finishing up the summer rush of visitor and student visas and they can get back to the skilled worker applications. You will likely start to see things slow down again as embassies get closer to their annual targets.

Both theories sound plausible, altho I´d tend toward the first as many who are not visitors/students are also now getting their visas.

I´d add one more theory. CIC is just now finishing up with the surge of applications following the 2004 U.S. general elections, where many were disappointed with the results. The timeline seems to fit. At that time, CIC reported (BBC Nwws) that the number of CIC web sites hits seeking immigration information quadrupled.

On re-reading, misinterpreted second. Does now also sound as plausible if student/visitor visas were high priority.
