| Subject: how long background check takes? |
hi,
I have done my medical examinations in june 2004, submit background information form in august 2004 and the police clearance in september 2004. I am now waiting for background check. do you know how long it´s likely to take?

Couple of months to a year depending on the countries you have lived in since you turned 18 and a lot of other factors.

What about applicants how have lived in England and the US? Do you think it depends on the technology and credibility of the countries that issue the police cleareances? For example, I expect a police cleareance from the FBI to be more credible and easier to assess than if the cleareance comes from a country in Latin America.
Let me know your thoughts on this.

Background check starts after the interview waiver is granted or after the successful completion of the interview.
Background check is faster if you have resided in countries like US as it is very easy to access.

which is done first medical or background check . I was under impression that first interview or waver 2nd medical and the 3rd is background check. please correct me. thanks

To my knowledge, to get FBI clearance report, it can take up to 8 weeks.
It is first background check and medical and interview waiver is the last.
If your application is pretty straigh forward they will not bother asking for an interview.
And then again, do you be afraid of interview, because you have nothing to hide.
