Subject: Application rejection
  Hi,
Application to Buffalo, NY.
I saw a case of my friends application form sent back because he had left some columns blanks and they want the applicant to fill it with -N/A- etc. Mine is the same case, but I haven´t heard back from them yet (its been 2 weeks now, my friend´s got back within a weeks time.) Has someone´s experienced this before and do they send it back all the time ?
Also for English profiency they want us to physically write the "letter of proficiency in English". Do you get the application back if you have sent it typed on paper too ?
Thanks.

Zulu,

Looks like you are in luck.

Apparently, you get a very quick response when they reject the application. I got my application returned within 6 working days of mailing the application. (In my case the I-94 was missing). Since you have not received anything from them so far, I guess you should be fine.

I have resent the application but my "Proof of English Proficiency" letter is still typed. I read about a case on one of the forums where the application was rejected because of that. However, I know of people who have had no problems inspite of sending a typed letter. So I guess - just have to wait and watch. Hand-writing the letter just seems odd and untidy thing to do.

God Blesss!

Guys/Gals:

I applied under skilled worker category and my application was returned because I had typed my english proficiency, so I sent back all docs with written letter for proficiency. Then they returned it back again because I had not filled up blank sections with NA or none...so I had to resend it the third time...now Im waiting for an AOR...so get these done and dont mess up.....first time they returned my application in about 15 days second time they returned it after 1 month......

Oh..well..so my application will be returned for the 2nd time...

Are these consulate guys crazy or what..I know of people whose application got accepted even though they had the letter typed...

At least they should be consistent...or they should mention in the guide that they want a HAND WRITTEN letter.

Do they think that I have been working in America in IT without knowing how to WRITE in English. CRAP !!

One question to "Anonymous" above :

Did you have your original certificates and other documents in English or translated.

I am wondering if the consulate guys ask for hand written proficiency letter only when they have a doubt about the applicant´s English skills from other documents.

Dude they do clearly mention that english proficiency should be written...also..i agree with you they are very inconsistent as they have accepted lots of applications randomly with the typed letters..but mostly 95% of the time they send it back...so dont try yur luck anymore...do the right thing...good luck to you....

´Written´ is not the same thing as ´Hand written´.

If it was so...all the contracts/declarations in the world would be hand written.

I agree with you they can be a pain...and foolish too...I had to get a brand new bank statement, brand new forms and date and sign all over again..was a pain..but now finally in my 3rd attempt they have aceepted it...as they have cashed my cashiers check (I checked thru my bank if my cashiers check was paid) if they reject they send the check back as well.....but again good luck to u....its a time consuming process...i skipped work for a complete day(i make 55$/hr) to get this done...:)..

I have all original documents, certificates ( i mean everything ) in english...and notarized...well..I also have english proficiency letters from all my 4 previous employers..all schools, colleges etc attended..

After all this ive heard there have been requests made to people like me to take IELTS..well they r pretty rigid in their language requirement...hope this helps...

I sent in a typewritten statement of English and French proficiency. I got my AOR a month ago.

I agree with the previous poster. I am a native English speaker. Written does not mean handwritten. Typewritten is also written. If CIC is rejecting applications, I´d be very very surprising if it is because the statement of proficiency was not written out by hand. I can see them rejecting applications because they are not satisfied with the sufficiency of the written statement, but that´s another story.

But then, I could be proven wrong. Perhaps someone who´s application was actually rejected due to the language statement could relate to us exactly what the rejection notice said. Then the situation would be clearly. Otherwise, I remain highly sceptical that CIC requires a handwritten statement.

What is AOR? (in reply to: Application rejection)
I`m being sponsored by my husband, and been filling out all the forms, I`ve never seen this before (AOR), can anyone tell me what it means?
Thanks a lot.
