Subject: Proof of Fund @ Port of Entry
I am travelling for my first time PR to Ottawa. Do I need to tell/convince the authority at port of entry that I will be transfering the funds available in US bank account to Canada within a month or so? I am planning to carry Bank statement from US bank and some cash.
Since I will not be moving to canada now, how do I handle this situation? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks Abhi

They will not count ur BankStat as cash on hands when ur entering Canada.. however it is still important. They will only conside the cash u have on hands.. however, many ppl in here just take Bankstat and some cash and they went fine.. it depends on how many r u guys?!! r u a big family...etc..

good luck

Your money abroad or in the USA, is not important, they are not interested in your money in the USA or anywhere else, they will check if you have transfered your money into Canada....otherwise you might be asked not to ENTER....So your money either must have been transfered into Canada or you must be carrying that money in Cash (etc.) with you....

Thanks guys for the info. We are two person, me and my wife. Will the cashier´s check of ard CAD$13000 from my US bank do? or it should be strictly cash or travelers check? I heard you will be taxed for the amount of money you declare @ the port of entry during that fiscal year. Is that true? I would appreciate again if someone can shed some light on it. Thanks. Abhi
