Subject: Minimum Work Experience for PR
I´m looking into the details of applying for a Canadian PR as a skilled worker. Is the minimum work experience a requirement on its own? That is, if someone has enough points and enough funds to apply, but doesn´t satisfy the minimum work experience, will the application be denied? Or if someone has enough points, then it´s OK to apply?

Thanks,

Igor

You have to meet the minimum work requirment if applying as a skilled worker; I think that for now is one year.

That´s a good question. I´m guessing that you must have some points from each of the 6 selection factors based on how they word the importance of the factors. But it is not entirely clear how they´ll view an application that has enough total points, but no points in one of the selection factors.

the way I understand it - you require a minimum of 67 points in total. However, the additional question is whether CIC believes you will be successful in your attempts to settle in Canada.

That tells me they would look at your point distribution and see if there are any very week spots - such as language.

Actually, you need at least one year of work experience in a job on the NOC list, and they do not look at your point distribution for very weak spots. Once you have the 67 points that is sufficient. Only if you don´t have the 67 points then they will assess whether there are other considerations that would make your attempt to settle in Canada successful.
I gained this information from discussion with the officer who evaluated my case when I had my interview in Detroit.
Needless to say, I am now a permanent resident.
