Subject: Tax for the amount of money you declare
I heard you will be taxed for the amount of money you declare @ the port of entry during that fiscal year. Is that true? we will be going to canada for the first time after our PR and will be carrying around 13000 canadian dollars. I would appreciate if someone can shed some light on it. Thanks. Abhi

NO, NO, ABSOLUTELY NO. CRA can´t tax you on the money that you bring in, the money could have been accumulated over many years where you would have already paid taxes on these funds.
