Subject: BIG changes - will they affect my application??
  Hi there,

I applied for permanent residency in Canada almost 3 years ago and had hired a law firm to help me put my application together, but the rest was up to me. I had sent everything in one go, and all that was missing at the time were UK police certificates (I lived in London when I was 18) and a proof of English test. Well, a lot happened in the last 3 years. I changed careers (I was in marketing and am now a teacher of English), I had done a CELTA course in Spain for a month to achieve this career move, though I only tutored privately whilst on vacation after my course, as I´m not an EU citizen, and was helping family and friends´ younger sibblings with school work. I also fell in love and have unofficially moved to London to be with my boyfriend. While in London (just under 2 months now), I decided to take my career change further, and have been accepted to do a Master´s in Education at a university here.

I have now been unemployed since September 2005, since embarking on this path of ´change´.

I recently received a letter from the Canadian High Commission asking me for: proof of English (already knew about that), Police Certificates from the UK (already knew about that), Police Certificates from Dubai (I had already sent them those with the initial application and I only have copies! But can get them again anyway...), a letter from my current employer (haven´t had one since September 2005!), AND the funds I have (already sent in the original application!!?).

Here is my problem:
- Will my CELTA certificate be enough for proof of English, or do I HAVE to go through IELTS? Contrary to my Argentinean passport, English is actually my first language (I´ve never lived in Argentina), and I also graduated from a Canadian university!
- How can I justify being unemployed in the last year and living off of my savings and changing careers? How detrimental is that to my application?
- My unemployment, would also be reflected in the 6-months bank statement which they are asking for, as a proof of funds.

I can manage all other documents, but am worried that the effort to obtain the other documents would be in vain because of my career and life changes.

Should I assume that all hope is lost because of these changes, or should I pursue this? I still really want to immigrate to Canada, but am worried that the path I have chosen in life will work against my application.

My boyfriend and I also hope to be engaged or even married after I finish my Master´s next year. He´s English. How will this also affect my application?

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank so much!!

What a mess! What if your english bf does not want to moe to Canada? Why not marry him and live ever after in Eggland. I heard they have a lot of eggs in eggland so you can enjoy good breakfast.

Regarding employment, you could tell them what happened since your initial application. I think they would understand your drive to improve or change career. People in Canada also change careers several times in their lifetime.

This is a post from somewhere that can be of help:

In answer to your question: they asked me to send the PCCs from home country at IA again. I had already sent them these PCCs with the application, so I e-mailed them about that, and several days later I received an e-mail from them that yes, they found the PCCs and there is no need to send again. Maybe try e-mailing? You want to draw a line at them loosing your docs, I mean how many processing fees for your son can you pay?

Hi, thanks for replying to my post. My bf would not mind moving to Canada with me - but let´s cross that bridge when we get to it. As for the PCCs... thanks for your advice there too, however there is no email address for the Canadian High Commission in London, England, which is where my application is bring processed. They are adamant about not contacting them or sending them any information above or over what they have requested. They even clearly indicated on the letter they sent that they will not consider any additional documents - bummer!

Not very flexible are they! haha! But also, very understandable with the amount of applications they receive.
