Subject: Job offer??
I don´t understand: say that I am lucky enough to get a job offer and I apply for skilled worker permanent residence. I understand that the process takes 6-42 months. Who is the employer that will keep his/her position open for such a long time???
My point being: how can anyone use a job offer to actually get a skilled worker residence???

Thanks!

FG

If you work for a company, in say US, that has a branch office in Canada. The company can offer you a job in Canada(if they want to). This way you will be working for them in US till you get PR card and can move to Canada and work for the same company in Canada. So its possible.

But you can only get the points if the job offer is approved by HRDC

Temp Work Visa (in reply to: Job offer??)
Additionally.... there may be 2 options..

(1) If your position falls under NAFTA agreement you can come in in a few short weeks.

(2) If there is a labor shortage in other various fields it may be granted to you. First it must be evaluated by HRDC (Human Resources and Development Canada). They will make sure that that position cannot be filled by a Canadian laborer.

Your best and quickest bet is to find a position under NAFTA, you could be in Canada with a temporary work visa in a few weeks. You can always renew temp work visas and you could also apply for PR while you´re there... keep that in mind.

Another option:

If a company is ready to offer you a job they can sponsor you for a work visa and you can file for PR.

I am not very familiar with Canadian companies: is it hard to find a company willing to sponsor for a temporary worker visa? Here in the US I am finding a really hard time to find any company doing that.
