Subject: why bother?
sharon, why do you bother arguing with these people? you´re playing right into their hands and providing more incentive for them to continue. best thing to do is ignore them. don´t sink to their level.

and for the so called "trolls" why do YOU bother? everyone here is STILL going to immigrate regardless of how many times you post the crap from the other websites. we know people have had difficulty after moving to canada. everyone has difficulties moving to any new place. what did you/they expect? i´m annoyed with you/them saying that canada promised you jobs in your field. i´ve done tons of research the past 2 yrs about coming to canada and i´ve yet to see anyone or any site saying i´d have a job there.

the fact is, you know what canada is about. you know they have problems accepting foreign education and experience so stop resisting it!! expect it and plan for it. turn the tables on them. you might have had to go back to school but its the price you pay for wanting to leave your so called perfect lives in your home countries. if they were really so perfect i really don´t see why you should have left in the first place. maybe i´m not sympathetic because i´m not in that situation. i came back home with a master´s degree in engineering and got resentment...from my own people in my own country!! they don´t want me and can´t use me. i´m out. in canada i´m pretty sure i won´t get an engineering job but the difference is that i won´t sit and whine about it; my life has been frustrating any damn way so i can only go up. i move on to plan B and C and D and E... its not that difficult. you have to find a balance between your interests and what is needed in canada, heck learn a frickin´ trade if you have to. do something..anything except whine about it.

up ´till now NONE of you have provided any justification for even wanting to come here in the first place. you had great lives, loved your home country but yet you come here, seek out people from your own culture, segregate yourself, not wanting to learn anything new or adapt or embrace anything canadian. you try to turn your canadian neighbourhoods into "little china" or "little india" or "little wherever". why did you leave your country again????

Could we please all calm down a bit? I´m afraid new people to this board are going to scared out of their wits in trying to get information about Canadian immigration.

I like diversity of opinion and exchanging ideas and philosophies, but I think we´re getting somewhat carried away here. Whether jobs exist in Canada for everyone or not is a futile debating point. It´s the same for every other free-market country ...it depends ...on the person, skills, motivation, attitude, location, circumstance, and luck. There is no set answer to this question.

Yes, guys, I just don´t like being attacked here. Clearly, Sharon´s behavior last night, especially the crude remarks she posted and then got someone to delete before others saw...it is plain wrong. Just as wrong as the idiot who came on here and posted some filthy message against her.

The only reason why I post here is so that people hear the other side of the story, i.e. that there is massive resistence against hiring newcomers in Canada.

Truth be told, we did have Plan A, plan B and we´ve moved onto plan C which is to return to the USA. We haven´t even found a home yet, but my partner is already working on a long term project. This type of luck just doesn´t happen in Canada.

In the USA, it´s less about national origin and more about qualifications. In Canada, it´s more about national origin and less about qualifications.

We would have gladly seen my partner take even a couple of part time jobs outside his field in Canada and then make up the rest with freelance writing for places back in the USA.

But even some of the part time applications had discriminatory motives....like Staples Canada on Vancouver Island where the employment application specified that it wanted a previous "Canadian address".

We don´t do things like that in the USA. So, we returned to the USA.

But trying to shut me up is plain wrong. It´s anti-free speech. And calling me a troll is incorrect too. That would be someone who posts the identical material over and over word for word, or someone who is totally off topic.

Again, what are you people afraid of? That you´ll lose a few immigration clients? It may cost you money, but it´ll cost them a lot more if they are the 5 out of 10 immigrants who are living below the poverty line in Canada ten years after they arrive!

AND by the way, this site doesn´t say "Canadian immigration forum, only for those who have positive experiences and questions".

When I first found this place, I thought that people would have meaningful conversations about what was going wrong and how to fix it. Since then, I´ve seen that those who have problems are dismissed immediately.

degen95 - you are right. sorry I subjected you to all this nonsense. I love my country and the people in it. I know we are not perfect - but I get defensive when people make us ALL out to be slumlords, racist, oportunists and liars.

You wouldn´t like it either.

All I can say is that you people are a bunch of nutcases beyond the point of recovery. You should all be put into Gualgs and forced to contribute to the good of this society than sit behind your puters and whine about BS. Granted you are all losers of first order, but even so why do you have to spend your ENTIRE life on net???? Now get off the damn keyboard and get to work.

**.95.156, you are a delusional nutcase. Your fixation on Sharon is just weird, and I don´t think I´ve ever seen anyone go out of their way to prove their point. Like, she is the sole cause of all your problems in life. Victim mentality much? You sound like that not-canada spammer. Why don´t you go join their site, you´d fit right in.

As another wise friend told the not-canada dude. If you put half as much energy into finding a damn JOB as you do screaming about how badly you were wronged on internet forums all day long, you´d be better off. Clearly, you have too much time on your hands.

Like Sharon, I´m a native Canadian who loves my country. No, we´re not perfect, but I´m very glad to know that your home country is!

I think I´ll go to oh... let´s say somewhere in the middle east - to a strong Islamic region. I´ll just waltz right in there and do my own thing, not conform to society nor embrace their culture. Then I´d demand a job in my field, and scream discrimination if people start slamming doors in my face. Then I´ll get on Aljazeera television and scream to everyone how unfair and racist their country is and call them all deceitful liars. Anyone who tried to silence me would be accused of censorship and I´d be protected by all kinds of civil rights. Heck, I´d even make a website to advertise my cause!

Do you think I´d get very far?

Get your damn head out of your ass and shut up, TROLL.

FWChelle:

You show the true Canadian sentiment towards immigrants and other newcomers.

My partner already has a job, back in the good ole USA.

Why such hostility? I´m not fixated on Sharon, Sharon has chased me through these forums, tracking IP addresses and trying to prove some sort of a point...

all to shut me up about the truth regarding how immigrants and temporary workers are treated in Canada.

This site is supposedly for people to discuss topics like these. Apparently some people want to censor anything that is critical of how immigrants are treated.

But YOUR hostility is amazing. Really, it is.

Canada openly advertises for immigrants, the other countries you mention don´t. It´s not a fair comparison.

I never said my home country is perfect. We came to Canada and spent tens of thousands, which are probably helping pay for YOUR medical care and social services.

So don´t tell me anything. I know first hand how immigration lawyers LIE and SELL HALF TRUTH about coming to Canada.

We were helped by a Vancouver immigration lawyer whom assured my partner that with his level of education and experience, he´d find a job right away.

It was false. It´s nearly impossible to find work in Canada as a newcomer, unless you are talking about minimum wage jobs, and even then it is hard.

Why are you so obsessed [if you are just the average Canadian] with being in these forums and knocking down anyone critical of the way Canadians steal and misleed immigrants?

Why, because you are probably someone with a vested interest.

Why do I bother? Well, I´m following the immigration advice given out in this forum VERY VERY closely, and I speak up, to forwarn those whom are being misled.

It´s amazing how you people are so determined to squelch anything I say.

Amazing.

And it´s all in the July 11, 2006 article "Canada NOT welcoming to immigrants, study finds" in the GLOBE AND MAIL one of Canada´s most important newspapers.

Studies conducted by Canada itself, show that even though newcomers are better educated than in the past, they can´t find work.

Amazing you want to squelch this truth. You must be an immigration lawyer yourself.
