Subject: "Medical results received", good news?
  Hi folks,

CIC has recently added "Medical results have been received" to my application status on their website (well, I did them 5 months ago.) Is it a good news? What is "background information check"? Does it begin after they receive the medical results? I have sent my police certificate 2 months ago.

Thanks,
Suresh

It´s up to you how will you acknowledge such development in your application. But if you are normal, progress in your e-client means good news. Good news in a sense that CIC received your medicals and no further test was required. Good news in a sense that it arrived to the rightful hands.

Your police clearance has nothing to do with background/security check. Just hang on PP request is just around the corner.

Bruce,

Thanks for reply. But it seems through the postings I found in this forum that Immigration Visa is just granted if you pass the background check (which seems to be very lengthy). Do they start it after receiving medial results? Someone told me that if it takes longer than a year I have to retake the medical exams. Is this true?

That´s the sad part if background check takes a year or more. If your medicals expire then you can do nothing but to redo it which of course is another expense.

Background checks take longer for those who stayed in other countries for 6 months or more.

It is true.. (in reply to: "Medical results received", good news?)
They still haven´t finished my background checks, they are waiting for one result left and my medicals have expired, which means I will have to redo them again but I´ll wait untill they ask for it.

Some people may have special situations which causes background check to be very very lengthy. Exemptions always exist but I do beileve that this is not the case for 99.9% of the applicants. Hope you get it soon

It is a good news (in reply to: "Medical results received", good news?)
Many people in this forum reported that they received PP request within days of their e-elient status updated to "Medical received" from buffalo. So I think it is a good news. I did my medical in August and still my e-Client status is not updated. I also sent my police certificate in Sept. Now the question remains that "When they start doing your background check ?" . IS it after medicals , or after receiving your PCCs or if it does not have any relationship with these docuemnts ??

I heard from so many people that the bacjground/security check begins as soon as you attend the interview (and pass it) or when you are granted the interview waiver.

Background Check (in reply to: "Medical results received", good news?)
Hi,

How can one have information on the Background Check? What stage it has reached and how long does it take. I had applied in October 2002 and received a letter to submit Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) in July 2003. My ex-employers too received communication from the Rome Visa post to verify the experience certificates. They have already informed the Consulate about the authencity of the experience certificates and I have also submitted the PCC certificates in August 2003, but have not yet heard anything from the Consulate.
Any information on how long the verification takes will be appreciated
Regards,

Samson.
