Subject: canadian born US citizen retrurning with US huband
I am a Toronto born 48yo who immigrated to US in 1971 w/ parents who are now deceased. I would like to return to be with family. I have a 66 yo US born husband (married in Toronto)who is a retired physician collecting social security and 2 children 13 & 17 who have dual status. I became a US citizen in 2000 for family trust probate tax purposes. Our income is entirely from US retirement and investments. What would our tax liabilities be and eligibility for social insurance. I have a SI card, as I am a Canadian. But what about my husband? My children are young enough to pay into the system. Could they be educated as Canadian citizens? Would this move be beneficial or detrimental to our quality of life? I appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Regarding the taxes it depends how much you earn.
Quality of life, probably better since you would be covered by OHIP and definitely more peaceful than in US.
It is hard decision, which you need to make.
Good luck,
Brian
