| Subject: PR Visa Validity and arrival in Canada |

I am a Canadian citizen working abroad and my spouse is Indonesian. We have planned to move back to Canada after the end of my contract in July 2005. We applied to immigration Canada early knowing that the process can sometimes take more than one year. We have just received notice that a PR visa will be issued for my spouse. Her medical examination was done in March 2004. Am I to understand that the visa will only be valid until March 2005? Does that mean that we are expected to arrive in Canada before the expiry date? Since I am unable to quit my job at such short notice, what can I do to extend the validity of the PR Visa?

Hi Stefan,
Yes your wife PR visa will expired on March 2005 same time with her medical, so she have to land in Canada before that time( you don´t need to land as far as I remember). Try to contact Canadian embassy near you in regadr of this problem.
BTW, do you live in Indonesia now? I´m also Indonesian and will land on Vancouver on Dec 1st.

Yes I live in Bali. The problem is that I have to arrive with her because we applied for her visa from outside Canada. I cannot leave my job so soon. Do you know anyone in the Canadian Embassy who can help me?

I´m sorry I dont know anybody in Canadian consulate in Indonesia. Because we´ve been living in US too long.
Should there any Canadian consulate in Bali also ? Maybe you could try to ask them.
