Subject: Applied Dec 03; IA Aug 04 - next steps
  Hi,
I applied for PR at Buffalo in Dec ´03 and got the IA in Aug 04. I been following the messages on this site and found them to be very interesting and informative. I had a few queries which I hope to get clarified thru this forum.

1. Saw many messages of applications being returned for non-completion (eg. N/A not written in places where not applicable etc). If I have received my IA saying that an interview is required (at NY), can I safely assume that the application is complete ?

2. I had sent additional details after I got the IA letter (addition to family). I saw the copy of the form I sent and it HAS several places where I left blanks. I have recd ackonwledgement of the additional details and medical forms for my child. So again, is it safe to assume the form is OK ?

3. The IA letter says that my application is "in a queue awaiting transfer to NY", and that I will be intimated once the file is transfered. What kind of time frame are we looking at for the transfer ?

4. And once transfered, what is a fair time frame to get the interview call ? 7-8 months ?

5. I learned about the CAIPS notes thru this forum, and have applied for it. I was not clear what the date on the notes denotes. Is it the date BEFORE which the file will be transferred or AFTER ?

Thanks

KG.

Hi KG,

I have the same timeline - applied for PR at Buffalo in Dec ?03 and got the IA (interview required in NY) in Aug 04. We should keep in touch.

1. Saw many messages of applications being returned for non-completion (eg. N/A not written in places where not applicable etc). If I have received my IA saying that an interview is required (at NY), can I safely assume that the application is complete ?

If you have left any section in the forms blank they will ask you to fill it up.

2. I had sent additional details after I got the IA letter (addition to family). I saw the copy of the form I sent and it HAS several places where I left blanks. I have recd ackonwledgement of the additional details and medical forms for my child. So again, is it safe to assume the form is OK ?

That was the right thing to do. I am just qurious, where did you send the updated forms Buffalo or NY?

3. The IA letter says that my application is "in a queue awaiting transfer to NY", and that I will be intimated once the file is transfered. What kind of time frame are we looking at for the transfer ?

The average time is anywhere between 3-6 months.

4. And once transfered, what is a fair time frame to get the interview call ? 7-8 months ?

Well the NY website says that they interview applicants 1 year after receiving the file in NY but I think it is on an average 8-12 months.

5. I learned about the CAIPS notes thru this forum, and have applied for it. I was not clear what the date on the notes denotes. Is it the date BEFORE which the file will be transferred or AFTER ?

There is a lot of information provided on the CAIPS notes. The information provided on the notes is in codes so to interpret it you will need decoding kit. Search on this forum for the link for the kit.

Kenny,

Thanks for the reply. I had sent the additional docs to Buffalo, since my file is still at Buffalo. Once I get any additional information I will post it here.
