Subject: Adding child after PR process ????
  I´m in a dilemma....

We got PPR few days back. The expiry of visa is Feb 07.
We are expecting a child in Nov 06.

Now, we were of the opinion, that we will land right away, and then apply for childs PR once its born. My concern is, that once I and my wife land and come back to US, and when the kids PR comes later, do we need to land again as per the kids PP Request ?
Mainly I´m just trying to save 2 trips to do the same landing formalities, so please let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

You do not have to fly out and fly back in again to land. You can just appear at any POE for the baby´s landing after it´s born.

When you land, ask cic what the procedure is for including your baby.

Thanks for your responses, but I don´t think my question was answered....

I live in New York, so I will drive to Canada (land from Buffalo) and complete the formalities and come back to New York, then I will sponsor the kid after its born....

1. Can I sponsor the PR for my kid from New York without living in Canada ?

2. If "Yes" to "1" above, then after the PPR comes for my kid, do I have to complete the entire landing process for the kid within its visa expiry date or I can wait till I actually move to Canada (maybe a year later) and not have to do the driving to Canada again ?

ORRRRRR....
is my best option to wait till the kid is born, then include it in my application and redo our medicals and FBI prints and spend another year before we can land (all together this time).... please advice.

I am in same boat (in reply to: Adding child after PR process ????)
I was suggested the OR part by an imigration consultant. Actually they stated that I dont have to appear for medical right now. I should get the baby and apply for the baby once it comes. Then new medical papers will be sent to me (Along with medical papers for baby). Then the next processing

Does that help?

you cannot delay your landing and there is no option for an extention.

Perhaps Roy can jump in here or call the CIC call centre. The last thing you want to do is mess this up.

When you land - be aware that some people are encountering difficulting when they have no intention of settling in Canada. Friend on another board had his attempt to land denied.

If you do not land before the baby is born, your visa would be cancelled and you have to apply to add the baby to the application which will delay the process. Your best option now is to:

1. Land in CND with your wife and come back to the States. Since you are both PR´s you can sponsor your child when S-He is born since you would be both PR´s by then

2. Both of you should land and your wife can go back to CND (with medical insurance of course) say October and have the baby there so that you do not have to go through all the hassle of updating baby info and records with CIC.

Good luck.
My advise, whatever you do, please try and land before the baby is born since the drive to Canada is just 8 hours and you would save months of waiting when you take the option of waiting till the baby is born. The choice is yours

Thanks Ashish/Sharon/JJ....
I think Ashish´s option sounds good to me, and it happened with another friend of mine (they had to do medicals again and they landed with the kid all together later, but they had to land only once)

Sharon.... intention to settle in Canada will remain the same irrespective of whether I´m having the kid or not. But the CIC has instructed me to inform them before sending passports about change in family, and I would fall under that category.

JJ,
I have no issues in waiting for a year before landing, moreover I cannot let my wife (pregnant that too) to travel to Canada and have the kid over there by herself !!!

Ok, once again, if I add my kid after I land and come back to USA, do I have to land separately for the kids PR again or can I do it at the time when I ACTUALLY move to Canada....

delay your landing until February 07. the day the baby is born, inform CIC of your change in status. They may allow you to still land in February, or they may ask you to return your passports until the changes are made.

that´s how I understand it. Somebody else????
