Subject: Police Certs
Hi,

I am currently employed in Canada on a work permit. I have worked here for over a year now.

I lived in Papua New Guinea for 19 years and just prior to my departure (1998), I obtained a police certificate. Is this still valid since I havent been back since?
Thanks,

No
Police cert or good conduct cards are good for six months only.

Thanks.

Can I send the initial application out now, and inform the appropiate authorities to send the police certs directly to the embassy?

The process usually takes about a year at least. Therefore if I obtain the certificates now and submit them with my immigration application, 6months would have been expired and so the certificates would be outdated.

I would send the initial PR application into the appropriate consulate. The process is about eight months to 11 months beyond issuance of the File number. Once you receive the file number, then I suggest you request the Police Cert. from your country as well as FBI (if you have lived in the US) within about 8 weeks to the 8th month. That will give you enough time.

Police certificates or fingerprint cards stamped CLEARED will be sent directly to the applicant. Then your responsibility is to send to the Consulate. Get a tracking #. FBI is about a eight week wait right now.

Good luck

RE MEDUCAL TESTS...about 5 months for processing.

Good luck
