Just now realized I submitted my application to Bufallo with check in U.S. dollars but based on CN$ fee schedule. How to determine correct amount I should have sent in - just calculate from daily exchange rate from newspaper? Will I ever see a refund of overpayment? (altho lately, it may be less and less).

You must pay exact. Anything different is going to get your application sent back.
