Anyway, please explain to me the appreviations you are all using both in this forum and the Buffalo Tracker

Which one is it that you are given a number that you can check the CIC website to track progress? Also, if given a number does that mean someone has been assigned to your application?

I guess you are talking about checking online status of your file.

Hit this link and follow the instructions:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/index.html

File# is a unique identification and existence of your application in the database. That is required for all the basic purpose. It distinguishes your application from others.

Nobody specific is assigned to your file, but your file is assigned to the specific visa office.

Online service (in reply to: Acronyms/ ABC soup)
Hi Sanrup,

I have tried the link for online status and given my file number and details as the input. Unfortunately I am not getting the status but a statement saying that your application may not be taken for processing. Any idea what does it mean? My details are as follows-

Applied from CHC NewDelhi on Feb 2002
File number recd - Mar 2002
Submitted IELTS results, filled and submitted new application form on 2003 May
No info after that

Thanks,

Gem
