I want to immigrate to Canada, and I want to live in the province of Ontario. I´ve heard that Toronto has a high cost of living (rent, etc). Can you give any alternative city wherein the cost of living is much less than that of Toronto? For a couple with one six-yr old, how much money is needed per month? Is Brampton a good choice? Thanks.

close to Toronto and much cheaper to live in.

Right, Hamilton is a good choice.
Other City in Ontario that I could suggest is a London, Ontario. Two hours drive from Toronto and two hours drive from United States.
