Subject: Paris Processing Time
Hi,

On the CIC Web Site, its mentioned that processing time line for Paris is 24-30 months for Skilled Workers. Does it take longer time (considering the background check etsc are over)? In UK, the processing time is just 12-14 months!!

Regards,

Sam

not sure where you are looking. according to the website below, the processing times are much less.

Hi Sharon,

Please have a look at the following web site:
http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/canadaeuropa/france/visas/delais-en.asp

Though they have mentioned 24-30 months for Paris, it is taking longer time. Hope the Class action suit decision does not delay the processing further. Have included an excerpt from the CIC: Whats New web site

------------------------------------------------------------
3. PROPOSED SETTLEMENT OF THE RASOLZADEH CLASS ACTION:

Pursuant to the Draft Settlement Agreement, all Class Members? applications seeking immigrant visas will receive a selection decision in accordance with the following timeframes, if the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration decides in April of 2005, to proceed with the Settlement:

those submitted in 1999 or earlier, by February 1, 2006;
those submitted in 2000, by February 1, 2007;
those submitted in 2001, by August 1, 2008.
These timeframes provided for in the Draft Settlement Agreement, constitute accelerated consideration of all Class Members? applications seeking visas and represent the allocation by the Minister of significant resources to processing Class Members? applications. Under the terms of the Settlement, no damages are being paid to Class Members. Subject to Court approval, the Minister will pay 4 Class Counsel (and 13 other lawyers who commenced related litigation listed in the Draft Settlement Agreement), a total of $2.96 million for legal fees and disbursements.

In exchange for these Settlement benefits, Class Members release and discharge all claims against the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada arising out of, or relating to, the processing of their applications seeking immigrant visas. As a result, all Class Members (except for those who properly ?opt-out?) will be barred from making or pursuing any such claims, after the Federal Court in Canada finally approves the Settlement, which is anticipated to occur in February of 2005. However, the Settlement will not prevent a Class Member from challenging the refusal to issue him a visa, so long as that challenge is on legal grounds different from and unrelated to those raised in the Rasolzadeh class action.

Was wondering if the processing times of people who have applied after January 2002 will also be effected by this ruling. Three of my friends who had applied in Oct-Dec 2002, through Londoan Visa post have already landed in Canada. (the processing took them approx 14 months via UK) but couple of people who have applied through Paris have yet to hear from the consulate. Though its mentioned 9 months in CIC web site....some different figure is mentioned in the paris visa post!

Hi Sam,
Time mentioned is the anticipated time on the Paris site, and it´s not 24-30, but 24-36 months. On the other hand , if you look at the CIC site what time it took for past applications through Paris office , you´ll see they did 80 % of all cases between 5 and 11 months.
I heard that Paris timeframe is about the same as London timeframe and they just give an estimated longer timeframe in wich they can work more comfy.
What they write at the end might be the key:
"processing times can vary considerably depending on the following factors "
Though it could mean longer times,but also shorter times.
I think that lots depend on the security checks .

sorry about that (in reply to: Paris Processing Time)
we are in the same Q so my heart is counting on the shorter time. There are 2 groups of applications. Those that were in -pre 2002 and those after. Reason being... there were a group of applicants that were rejected under the old system, that would now qualify. CIC is now going back and re-assessing those appilcations under the new rules. the dates are being shown for those old applications. I think anything after those dates are being processed much more quickly.

think you´re right Sharon. It´s the pre 2003 backlog that is taking so long to process.I´m applying in business class through Paris and anticipating 12 to 18 months ( crossing my fingers )
