| Subject: re-entry without pr card |
i have a confirmation of pr but not the card yet. i would like to return to canada from usa by Greyhound bus. can i use my confirmation of pr to board the bus. or i have to apply for travel document. any body who experienced this situation please help me

to be in the safe side just apply for travel document, you may enter canada as long as you can prove your status, but not everybody recognises COPR so I would apply for travel document.

Do NOT enter the country through a commercial carrier (ie, plane, boat or Greyhound bus)or you will be turned back. You can, however, enter via a private vehicle with your passport and COPR. See answer 17 of FAQ of CIC site concerning PR card requirement. For your convenience i am quoting it below:
If you must take a bus, then you would need to apply for a temporary permit which can cost $50.00

The PR card is required to re-enter Canada by commercial carrier (airplane, boat, train or bus) only. This requirement does not apply if you are travelling by private vehicle

I don´t see why you can´t just enter Canada (as a visitor) using your USA passport, just as anyone who wants to visit Canada from the USA. I assume you HAVE a USA passport. If you are an American citizen you don´t even need a passport.

most of skilled workers who apply from US are NOT US citizen or pp holder (a random generalization, but I am sure it has enough ground).

Please help me with your advice if my PR card expired in April and I want to return to Canada with expired card in June. What is the recommendation , do I take private register car to enter or commercial vehicle? I am think of taking a bus through likes gredhound bus.

Take a Greyhound bus instead of a non-commercial vehicle as suggested. Take a Greyhound bus and be refused entry, Greyhound will be charged for your removal.
