Subject: Getting married in Australia
  Hi,

I am a Canadian Citizen right now who has just finished university. Right now, I have just gotten a job offer which I have accepted and will start about a month after I get back from Australia. When I go to australia i´m planning to get married to my fiancee (who lives there as an australian citizen). She was in Canada for a few months this past fall on a student visa (on an exchange program). As for education, we both have university degrees (bachelors degrees). My question is, we both have been a bit worried about getting her here in canada as we both want to live here. We were thinking of getting her a visiting visa initially so she could just visit me here for a while (come back to canada with me for a few months) until we could straighten out any issues to get her to become a permeanent resident here. Anyone know if this will be difficult to do? (I know I haven´t been working full time for a year, but I have worked on and off for the same location between university semesters)

Thanks in advance

Spousal Sponsorship (in reply to: Getting married in Australia)
Hi.

Spousal sponsorships are very easy to prepare and complete, when compared to Economic Class applications. Provided the marriage is bona fide, you should be able to navigate CIC´s waters without running aground.

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/irpa/fs-family.html. Then see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/index.html for the forms and guide book.

Congratulations, and good luck.

Sincerely,

Thanks Dennis, just out of curiosity, how long would you think it would take from our application to approval. My fiancee had looked into coming to Canada and we found out she can come here for 6 months without a visa. Would there be any problem with her doing that after we get married(would immigration canada see a problem with her living here while her application was being processed?). We both currently dislike the idea of spending any more time apart from each other so we were thinking that we would apply for her visa after we get married and she comes here with me from Australia. Do you think it would be possible for the immigration application to go through within 6 months?

Thanks again,
Joseph
