Subject: looking for a job
I posted my resume on Hotjobs.ca, monster, workopolis, careerbuilder, etc. I get about 6 to 10 calls a day from US companies asking if I am a Canadian citizen already, well I said I´m just a PR and this is just my 2nd week in Canada. Am I already eligible for US H1 visa?

I think there are no more good jobs here in Canada or they require something like Canadian work experience or education. The discrimination thing is also a big problem and not just to the foreign native minorities but to the whites as well. I had an interview on 1 manufacturing site and I noticed that 95% of their personnel are Indian/Pakistan looking. 6 of us who are not Indian natives, 2 are white, took about only 10 minutes of interview but 2 Indian looking guys each have 45 minutes interview time. When I came in next inside, the entire HR office staff all look like Indians, the interviewer just asked some basic qustions and just said I´m over-qualified. I also noticed it on another company but they were all Chinese looking. Hey I am not applying in an Indian restaurant or Chinese store ok so why the hell is it like that in here?

cause the country if full of immigrants and some immigrants bring their prejudice with them, and others prefer to hire ´their own´ and if you are over qualified for the job they might be afraid that you will be gone in 6 months and they will be back doing interviews.

Ironic that your discrimination concerns are reversed to what most people would suspect.

Don't waste your time here (in reply to: looking for a job)
Your are already eligible for H-1 visa as any other foreign alien. Convince an employer and just go to the USA. There is nothing left in Canada for the new immigrants regardless of qualifications or race. It is just lack of jobs. Few jobs come out go directly to the locals who have good internal links.
Don´t think that Canadian degree would bring you a whole lot. I had US masters with 2 years of experience, didn´t get anything. Then even got another Masters from the U of T (best school in Canada) with the sdame result. Didn´t waste any time, moved to the USA with a class job, high quality of life, and self respect. Don´t be fooled with the higher living standard or low crime rate in Canada. All exagerrated.
