Subject: wife got refused visitors visa
I got married in June, a girl from my hometown in Ukraine, someone I have known for years. I collected all documents and submitted the sponsorship application. The case is already in Kiev, Ukraine.
I am already a Canadian citizen.

Today, I have just found out that Canadian embassy refused my wife the visitors visa and actually stamped that in her passport. This not only disappointed me, but also scared. If they already refused her a stupid visitors visa, then they will probably refuse the sponsorship.
And then what do I do? Divorce? Return to Ukraine? Although I already lost Ukrainian citizenship, so even that maybe a problem.
We had like a 4-year-long relationship; was it all for nothing?

Any word of advice pls

makes sense (in reply to: wife got refused visitors visa)
It´s ok, they do that often
As per sponsorship: if all is well all will remain well
as per visitor visa:
officer must be satisfied that your wife will return to the Ukrain. Since her spouse is Canadian, chances are zero to none (as far as they are concerned).
PR application has nothing to do with that.
Probably PR application is near to end.

good luck

Thanks ppl, breathing easier. She actually brought over a letter from CPC Mississauga, specifying the case # etc. I though the letter proves she will later come back to Kiev for the interview and so on.

In my mind, a visitor visa is such a minor thing, while PR is a big one. I already invited my parents, brother, cousin and 2 friends (who never returned BTW) to visit me, but my wife was refused??? At the time I worried about them, but was 200% they must allow my wife to stay with me even before sponsorship is finalized. The refusal was kind of a shock - now I doubt everything.

They told her, BTW, she would have to wait up to 14 months for teh sponsorship interview. I can´y imagine waiting that long

not to worry too much (in reply to: wife got refused visitors visa)
She will come, but not as a visitor. You need to sponsor her and it will take few months and finally she will be here.
Good luck,
Dama

Hi Herr....
Yeah just relax, don´t take any instant decision right away, you will have to sponsor her and it will be done soon.
By the way, if it still doesn´t work out that way, you will know what to do when you have to face the situation as human relationships are way above visitor visas or citizenships of nations.

Oh, no I am not making any decisions, have no choice really but to wait.
It´s just visas and citizenship can for sure influence human relationships.

I have an example of the second aunt before my eyes, who married a Ukrainian Canadian about ...hmmm... 15-17 years ago. And then she waited through the sponsorship case for more than 2 years. Eventually, she got tired, started living with some other guy, got pregnant, and simply did not go to the interview when the invitation finally came. At the time, BTW it was virtually impossible to get USSR exit visa to visit someone abroad.

If this whole waiting thing lasts another year, I am not sure if this marriage has any chance. Not sure if I can wait for her that long, or if she can wait that long. I was thinking yesterday night, and decided if nothing happens soon, say in 3-4 months, I should be realistic and discuss with my wife if we should continue

dear herrober,
it looks like u are not serious about ur relationship
with your wife, it seems very superficial if it cant
withstand a few months of waiting, married couples stay
together for better or worse, and overcome obstacles together, if u are not willing to wait a few months for
immigration, then i am sure ur marriage will end up in divorce later on, so divorce now and spare us the trouble.
I know many couples who waited 2 or 3 years, and never EVER
did they think of divorce or giving up on the relatioship,
wow u give up so easily.. that is not the right attitude to go thru life
