Subject: TO FWCHELLE TO FWCHELLE
what do u mean by pseudo canadians?
do u mean canadians who come from a different country originally?
first of all, blaming the people for returning back to
their home country doesnt make sense. its not their fault
the canadian government decided to evacuate them for free.
Second of all, canada is a freee country and just because
you are canadian, doesn?t mean u have to live in canada
for the rest of your life to avoid being called pseudo canadian by people who can?t see beyond their own noses
like FWchelle.
"You put you stupid selves there" ???? how were they supposed to know there was a war starting there? there
was nothing going on there before the war started? unless u can foretell the future, u wouldve been in the same situtation?
maybe they have lived and worked in canada for many many
years, and decided to go back to retire in their home country. which means that they have paid a lot in taxes
and other things and the least the government could do
is to help them get out.

Another thing is, a large number of people who are not born
canadian but become canadian through applying for permanent
residence, are assessed on basis of qualifications.
Those people must prove they have a good education, no police records, good work experience in a qualified field, etc... These people deserve a lot of respect from fellow
canadians, and they do get it, so I dont think we care
if a narrow minded person like urself has no respect for us, because we have no respect for them either. Many born
canadians should count their lucky stars, because based on
their qualifications they would never qualify for immigration to canada had they been non canadians.

Some people have no compassion. They have trouble understanding other people?s situations until they go through a similar situation themselves.

I wonder if FWchelle was in a situation where her/his life
was endangered, where people were dying all around her,
and losing their houses
would that person then learn understand situations like that? would FWchelle never ever return to the country of origin once she is evacuated, just
because she herself didnt pay for her evacuation?

WOULD YOU CARE TO PROVIDE US WITH A DEFINITION OF "CANADIAN"
VS.
PSEUDO CANADIAN

The people who run this site go to great lengths to delete much of what is submitted that is critical of the way that Canada lets people in, and then they can´t get jobs.

So, don´t be surprised at anything on this site, because only certain people are allowed to post...others are deleted instantly, and most of the time within a few hours.

It´s a shame, because new peeps to Canada can´t get a balanced view of the realities of immigration when they come to this site.

Mention the wrong thing, and your comment disappears!

PS

Perhaps someday they´ll get sued for the misrepresentations some of us believe they make about job opportunities in Canada.

We can only hope.

If you hold dual citizenship. For example Lebanese and Canadian then you should not be evacuated if your in any of the countries you hold citizenship for when a problem brakes out and your also a citizen in that country!

Here´s a statistic guaranteed to set your teeth on edge: Of the 15,000 Lebanese citizens evacuated from Beirut by Canadian Forces during last month´s war -- the largest such operation this country has mounted since the Second World War, at a cost of $85-million -- some 7,000 are reported to have returned home. Home, as in Lebanon.
Why were Canadian ships sent thousands of miles across the sea to pluck another country´s citizens out of harm´s way? Because, as you well know, they are also Canadian citizens. That is, they are dual citizens, beneficiaries of a 1977 change in immigration legislation, and as such, though many have not lived or paid taxes in this country for several years, are entitled to all the protections the Canadian state affords.
Despite the public outrage this aroused at the time, the Harper government wisely decided the middle of a war was not the time to revisit the principle of dual citizenship: They were Canadian citizens, and that was that. But the war being now ended, the government is said to be considering whether to abolish this strangely ambivalent status, to which at least four million foreign-born Canadians, plus an uncounted number of native-born, lay claim.
If so, this would be an event of enormous symbolic importance. Moreover, it would fit this Prime Minister´s broader aim, which is nothing less than to recast the meaning of Canadian nationhood -- as a moral project, in which we are collectively and individually engaged, rather than a simple dispenser of services; something that lays claims upon us, as much as it confers entitlements. And the very least claim it can make upon us is that we commit ourselves to it, to the exclusion of all others.

I foresee a change in legislation that is more consistent with other western countries.

I am not sorry the evacuation fiasco happened. It has highlighted a problem that has irked me for years. There are thousands of Canadians living in Hong Kong under the same circumstances.

Time for it to stop.

No. of Canadians Abroad (in reply to: TO FWCHELLE TO FWCHELLE)
Does anyone know what´s the approx. no. of Canadian Citizens left Canada for good?

I know currently over 100 thousands are just in the USA.

And more importantly, why this issue never comes into picture? What tends them to good bye the world´s no. 1 country (By UN standard)? Please don´t tell me that they are all naturalized citizen, lazy or unskilled. In Microsoft Seatle office I personally know at least few hundreds Canadians including my supervisor. Born Canadian, if you ask him where was you born? he promptly says;
ONTerrible.

I happened to see the first reply that I got when I posted
this message. I don´t want to repeat it since it will
be removed, but what it said was ( posted by "The Right Man" *.202.54.107) very racist, called arabs scum.
and had some course language.
The people who run this site mention that such things will not be allowed on this forum( Click on FORUM RULES!!)
There are hundreds of forums
online who will allow such things, and if anonymous
(whom I suspect is Mr Right Man or at least saw
Mr Right Man´s comment) doesn´t like it,
he can go to other forums that allow such things and post
his comments there...

Swearing and cursing and using racist expressions is the "wrong thing", and as long as u avoid things like that,
Anonymous, ur posts will not be deleted. Anyway, I am
ashamed to say I live in the same country as The Right Man.
